Malcolm V. Williams is research department director for RAND's Behavioral and Policy Sciences department, a senior policy researcher at RAND, and a professor of policy analysis at the RAND School of Public Policy. His background is in health services research including health promotion and disease prevention, social determinants of health and access to health care. He has extensive experience developing and assessing community-based projects addressing population health. He is currently leading a study to assess wealth disparities among older residents of Chicago. He recently co-led an evaluation of the Million Hearts initiative which is a CMS funded initiative focusing on cardiovascular disease prevention and co-led an NIH-funded study to design and evaluate an obesity prevention intervention. That project brought together a partnership of over 60 churches in South Los Angeles, CA, with the Los Angeles Department of Public Health and various community-based health organizations.

Williams received his Ph.D. in health policy from Harvard University, and his M.P.P. from Georgetown University's McCourt School of Public Policy.
