Daniela Rodriguez Rincon is a research leader at RAND Europe working in the area of research and innovation policy, mainly on research funding mechanisms, research systems, and research programme evaluation. Her main area of interest is research for development and global health research. Rincon's work includes research into career outcomes for Ph.D. candidates, research prioritisation and strategy development and peer review processes.
Methodologically, Rincon's expertise lies in programme evaluation, having worked on the evaluation of the Global Challenges Research Fund, the Newton Fund, the Strength in Places Fund, the COVID-19 Genomics UK (COG-UK) Consortium and the evaluation of the MRC/DfID Concordat Agreement to support UK-led biomedical and public health research.
Rincon has also worked as an evaluation programme manager at the UK's Medical Research Council (MRC), as a research policy manager at the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry, and as an intern in the Department of Strategic Policy at the United Nations Joint Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS). Rincon holds a Ph.D. in medicine (microbiology) from the University of Cambridge and an M.Sc. in medical microbiology from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
