RAND Expert to Testify Before U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging
Who
Bradley Stein, director of RAND's Opioid Policy, Tools and Information Center and a practicing psychiatrist, will testify before the U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging during a hearing on combatting the opioid epidemic.
What
Dr. Stein's testimony will focus on the impact of the opioid crisis on older Americans, in particular the growing prevalence of opioid use disorder among older adults and the challenge that presents for the health care system. His testimony will also discuss better treatment options for chronic pain and the social impact of nonfatal opioid use disorder on older people, including the financial burden of paying for treatment or caring for grandchildren.
