RAND Response to NIST Request for Input on AI 100-5, “A Plan for Global Engagement on AI Standards”

In this paper, the authors respond to a National Institute of Standards and Technology request for input on a plan that aims to advance responsible global technical standards for the development and use of artificial intelligence. They address (1) prioritization of topics for standardization work, (2) prioritization of activities and actions, (3) important ideas that are missing, and (4) completeness of standards activities.
