Psychometric Properties of Patient-Reported Quality Measures for Community-Based Serious Illness Care

We adapted the Serious Illness Survey for Community-Based Care and field-tested the survey among Medicare Advantage (MA) enrollees to create quality measures for use by MA or other organizations responsible for care of seriously ill individuals.

The Use of External Anchors When Examining Differences in Scale Performance in Patient Experience Surveys

Using an external anchor in both United States and UK data produced substantial evidence of differential item functioning (DIF). However, an "internal" DIF analysis (without an external anchor) produced little evidence of DIF.

National Testing of the Emergency Department Patient Experience of Care Discharged to Community Survey and Implications for Adjustment in Scoring

There is room for improvement in terms of patient experience in the ED setting. Effects of patient characteristics and survey mode on responses were large enough to necessitate appropriate adjustments if hospitals are to be compared in the future.

Evaluated response rates of 5 sequential mixed modes: on-site distribution of a paper survey; mail notification of a web survey; email notification of a web survey; mailed survey with telephone follow-up; and email notification of a web survey with mail follow-up and then telephone follow-up.

Effects of Push-To-Web Mixed Mode Approaches on Survey Response Rates: Evidence from a Randomized Experiment in Emergency Departments

Recent work involving survey administration among emergency department patients demonstrated very low response rates using single-mode approaches. This study tested several mixed-mode protocols that focus on a push-to-web approach for survey administration in this challenging setting.
