Interviews of 36 surgeons in a randomized controlled trial of social norm-based feedback to reduce postsurgery opioid prescribing elucidated surgeons' reactions and responses to the feedback as well as contextual factors affecting its impact.

Persistence of Social Norms Feedback on Postsurgery Opioid Prescribing Behavior: Secondary Analysis of a Randomized Clinical Trial

In a recent cluster randomized clinical trial, social norms-based feedback to surgeons significantly reduced overprescribing of postsurgery opioids. This analysis shows that the feedback's effect persisted one year after the feedback stopped.
