Yool Kim is director of the RAND Washington Office, a senior engineer at RAND, and a professor of policy analysis at the RAND School of Public Policy. Kim conducts and leads space policy research on topics spanning commercial space, space acquisition, international space cooperation, space launch, responsive space, space command and control, and space operations.
Prior to joining RAND, she was a senior engineer at Orbital Sciences Corporation where she worked on a range of civil and commercial space programs, including imagery and communications systems. She also served as a space policy analyst in the Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Space Policy, focusing on international space cooperation. Kim holds an M.S. and a Ph.D. in aeronautics and astronautics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
