Anca Agachi is a defense policy analyst at the RAND Corporation. Focusing on international security and defense issues, her research interests include transatlantic security and defense, especially NATO's adaptation and transformation; global governance; the impact of emerging threats, particularly emerging technologies, on international security; conflict management and transformation; and strategic foresight. Agachi is driven by a desire to understand the long-term transformation of conflict and security, and help devise actionable policy recommendations for managing change. She is also a Nonresident Fellow with the Atlantic Council and a Junior Associate Fellow with the NATO Defense College.

Prior to joining the RAND Corporation, Agachi served as associate director with the Atlantic Council's Transatlantic Security Initiative, in the Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security, where she spearheaded projects focusing on future threats to NATO and transatlantic security. Previously, she worked for the European Union’s European Defence Agency on defense capability development projects in the information security and space domains and served as a United Nations youth representative for Romania, focusing extensively on the UN 2030 Agenda and sustainable development goals.

Agachi holds a master’s degree in international affairs from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs, with a concentration in international security policy and a double specialization in conflict resolution and Africa. She holds a bachelor’s degree in international relations and European studies from the University of Bucharest, as well as a bachelor’s degree in international business and economics from the Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies. She is originally from Bucharest, Romania.
